Instructions Of Hair Transplant
Pre-Operation Instructions of Hair Transplant
All ROYAL HAIR patients are informed in detail about pre-operation instructions, both verbally and in written form, prior to their hair transplant operation.
Avoiding aspirins, ibuprofen, drinking alcohol, and using drugs from 7 days prior to the surgery and reducing caffeine are among these instructions.
Briefly:
If you are smoking, please reduce smoking at most 3 in a day.
Please stop drinking alcohol 48 hour before the operation time.
Please do not take any blood thinner medication such as Aspirin and Ibuprofen.
Please avoid wearing t-shirts or any other clothing garments that would touch your head when dressing/undressing. Wearing a buttoned shirt would be easier.
Post-Operation Instructions of Hair Transplant
ROYAL HAIR surgeons are experts in their field; they combine their experience, knowledge, and talent with the latest technology to get the best results.
The only thing they ask from their patients is to follow the post-operation instructions which include but are not limited to the aftercare instructions given below.
Important Note:
The following aftercare instructions are general information to guide you after your hair transplant. ROYAL HAIR does not accept liability for the accuracy of these instructions. The instructions of your doctor should be applied entirely.
Hair Transplant Instructions
It is important to follow the tips below in order to achieve the best results out of your FUE Hair Transplant or DHI Hair Transplant procedure in our hair transplant clinic in Turkey.
Sleeping Position After Hair Transplant
You need to sleep in a semi-upright position on your back by placing two or more pillows. This position will decrease any swelling that can occur on your scalp after the hair transplantation.
ROYAL HAIR staff will provide you a neck pillow after the procedure. By using the neck pillow, you will protect your newly transplanted hair from getting damaged while you are sleeping.
Pain Management
Mild pain can be felt for a couple of days after the hair transplant procedure. Some people report having difficulty in sleeping for the first days of post-op.
This can be relieved with pain killer medication which ROYAL HAIR provides for you.
Swelling After Hair Transplant
Swelling may occur on the forehead and the area around the eyes. It may last from 2–5 days after the FUE or DHI Hair Transplant.
You can apply an ice compress to your forehead and eyes if you experience it.
Important: You MUST NOT use ice compress for your recipient and donor areas in any case.
Swelling is not dangerous and it usually goes away without any medication. Still, ROYAL HAIR will give you anti-inflammatory pills just as a precaution.
Crust, Itching & Bleeding After Hair Transplant
About 7–10 days after the FUE or DHI hair transplant, there should be no more traces of dried blood, scabs or crust on your scalp.
If there are still some crusts after 10 days, please gently massage the transplanted area while washing your hair so they are slowly removed.
After FUE Hair Transplant, your scalp can get itchy. This is very common and usually lasts 10–15 days. You should never scratch your recipient and donor areas.
After the operation, there may be a small amount of liquid including some blood on your pillow. Do not worry; this is not bleeding, but only the liquid injected during the operation getting out of your scalp.
Hair Wash After Hair Transplant
ROYAL HAIR will provide you a special medical shampoo and lotion to use to wash your hair after hair transplantation.
Hair wash can be done in 3 easy steps:
Lotion is applied over the recipient area gently by tapping, no rubbing, and left for about 15 minutes. Then wash off with room temperature water.
Using the special medical shampoo, wash the donor and recipient areas. Apply shampoo to your palm and gently tap it all over the scalp.
After washing, dry your hair with a paper towel by patting gently.
These three steps must be repeated every day for 14 days to get rid of scabs and dry blood. After 14 days, you can start washing your hair normally.
Recovery After Hair Transplant — Short Term
Most patients feel fine within a day or two after surgery, although numbness and mild soreness can be expected for several days.
Usually, patients gain their normal appearance within 15 days post-op. Slight redness can be visible after this period.
Healing After Hair Transplant — Long Term
In the cosmetic healing period, you will have some red spots in your transplanted area after surgery. They will vanish after 7–10 days.
Transplanted hair may start to fall out after 15 days and may continue over the first two months. Nothing to worry about; only hair falls out, the grafts stay there.
3 months after transplantation, your hair will start to grow.
Your transplanted hair will be visible after 6 months, and after 12 months you will have your expected results.
If beard was used as the donor area
Beard can be shaven after a week if beard grafts have been used as donor material. The donor area is usually fully healed within a month.
Haircuts After Hair Transplant
You can have haircuts 1 month after FUE or DHI hair transplant operation only with scissors. After 6 months, you can use shaving machine.
Physical Activities, Sun & Holiday
In the first two weeks after surgery, avoid football, basketball, contact sports, weight lifting, cycling and running. Avoiding these for 4 weeks is better.
You shouldn’t expose yourself to direct strong sunlight. Use an umbrella or wear a special loose hat if necessary and avoid peak noon hours.
For the first two weeks, avoid sweating. If you sweat a lot, wash with water and dry the head with paper towel.
If you plan to go on holiday, you should not swim in pools or the sea until you have completed your first month.
Smoking and Alcohol
Alcohol and smoking can make the blood thinner and cause more bleeding, which increases the time needed for wounds to heal.
It is better to wait 2 weeks after FUE or DHI hair transplant before consuming alcohol or smoking.
