The difference between Sapphire FUE and Classic FUE in terms of micro-channel opening
Sapphire FUE hair transplant is performed using blades made from a gemstone called sapphire, different from the steel blades used in standard FUE transplants. This sapphire blade is useful for creating cuts within the recipient site. Blades are created to ensure minimal formation of scab, hence speed up the recovery by opening smaller transplantation micro-channels on the recipient site.
In FUE performed with sapphire blades, after the patient is put under local anesthesia, the hair follicles are taken one by one from the donor area. This is done with the help of a micro motor and micro punches of sizes of 0.6 – 0.7 – 0.8 mm.
Via this method, the extracted hair follicles get implanted in the incisions that have been created. These channels have an important impact on the angle, direction and density of hair growth. Such factors are determinant in getting a natural look. Due to this, canal opening is considered to be of utmost importance in getting successful results.
Sapphire blades offer the best way to open these micro-channels. Small cuts of the same length as hair follicles, are made using durable, sharp and smooth sapphire blades. They vary in size from 1.0 -1.3 – 1.5 mm. More channels can be opened, making it possible for hair follicles to be implanted closer to each other.
